Biography

Ms. Richelle Johnson currently works for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy as the Deputy Director for the Superintendent's Office of Inclusion and Diversity and as co-chair of the Equity Task Force . Her primary duties include providing expertise and guidance on inclusive leadership, diversity management, Academy-wide climate targeted toward cadets, civilians, military officers, enlisted personnel, faculty, and staff, and working in collaboration with various departments to increase retention of all cadets; in particular those who have been historically underserved. In this role, she also teaches classes to cadets and conducts training for faculty and staff on topics related to diversity and inclusion. In November of 2017, she retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as a Captain with over 24 years of faithful service to the U.S. Coast Guard/U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. While wearing the uniform, she specialized in providing crisis management support to the operational Coast Guard by leveraging the diverse talents and improving training opportunities of reservists as a force multiplier. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D in Higher Education at Central Connecticut State University.
